This page explains the social media community rules for the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (OPFCC) for Cumbria.

The OPFCC encourages interaction on our social media channels and has produced the below guidelines for people wishing to join in with our online community engagement.

By using or accessing this page, you agree to comply with the social media platforms terms and conditions, for example, Facebook’s terms and conditions and X/Twitter’s terms and conditions.

It is important to note that postings by members of the public using our social media accounts do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the OPFCC, nor does the OPFCC confirm their accuracy.

We welcome all questions and commentary, including constructive feedback, and expect participants to post content and commentary that is both relevant and respectful. The OPFCC reserves the right to remove any posts that don’t adhere to our guidelines and to block anyone who violates them repeatedly.

Specifically, we do not tolerate posts that are:

• Abusive, harassing, stalking, threatening or attacking others.
• Defamatory, offensive, obscene, vulgar or depicting violence.
• Hateful in language targeting race/ethnicity, religion, gender, nationality or political beliefs.
• Fraudulent, deceptive, misleading or unlawful.
• Trolling or deliberate disruption of discussion.
• Violations of any intellectual property rights.
• Spamming in nature.
• Link baiting (embedding a link in your post to draw traffic to your own site).
• Uploading files that contain viruses or programmes that could damage the operation of other people’s computers.
• Commercial solicitation or solicitation of donations.

Please note that the OPFCC does not respond to comments or posts from public on Official OPFCC social media pages. However, we do monitor these pages closely and take appropriate action if any comments raise cause for concern - i.e. a member of the public asking for an update on a Quality of Service Issues (QSI) will be sent over to the appropriate employee to follow up.

Due to the sensitive nature of Policing and Fire concerns, we ask that members of the public do not post personal information, details regarding ongoing crimes etc. in the public domain.
