HMICFRS & PEEL Reports
His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) independently assesses and reports on the effectiveness and efficiency of Cumbria Constabulary and Cumbria Fire Rescue Authority.
HMICFRS ask the questions that they believe the public wish to have answered, and publish their findings, conclusions, and recommendations. HMICFRS use expertise to interpret the evidence and make recommendations for improvement.
The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner uses the outcomes of the inspections to identify areas of strength and improvement. His responses to those inspections are published via the HMICFRS portal and PFCC website.
Find out more about how HMICFRS works with PFCCs, visit the HMICFRS website.
HMICFRS Update:
If HMICFRS has published an inspection report, and that report relates to a police force, section 55 of the Police Act 1996 requires the local policing body (the police and crime commissioner and the equivalents in London and Manchester) to prepare comments on the report and to publish them (section 55(5)).
As the local policing body for Cumbria, we must give due regard to reports and recommendations made by HMICFRS and prepare, update, and regularly publish these.
