Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (Commissioner) David Allen and Community Beat Officer (CBO), PC Emma Fearon met with local residents of Keswick and the surrounding area this week, to listen to their views and concerns on Cumbria Constabulary and Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service.
Between 14 March 2024 and 1 April 2025, in comparison with the same period the previous year, in the Keswick and the surrounding areas, anti-social behaviour has reduced by 31% (a decrease from 52 to 36 reported incidents). For the same time period, arson and criminal damage has reduced by 33% (a decrease from 60 to 40 reported incidents), possession of weapon offences has reduced by 50% (a decrease from 4 to 2 reported incidents) and vehicle offences has reduced by 36% (a decrease from 14 to 9 reported incidents).
Talking about his visit, Commissioner David Allen said: “As part of my commitment to be an active, visible, and accessible Commissioner, I hold surgeries across our county to hear your views and any concerns you may have about our police and fire services. I also regularly go out on patrol with our local neighbourhood policing teams and see the work they do to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.
“This was my 23rd surgery that I’ve held since being elected last year, I’ve tried to visit as many communities as possible in that time, however, you don’t have to wait for me to come to your area, you can email me on: commissioner@cumbria-pcc.gov.uk with any queries, they will be picked up.
“Having spent thirty years in policing and law enforcement, and then eight years in our local NHS, I stood as your PFCC because I want to make sure that the police are more visible in communities. We’ve just recently successfully lobbied the government for an extra 1.68 million to invest into neighbourhood policing.
“This money will enable us to recruit an additional 46 staff into Cumbria Police comprising: 26 Police Officers, 12 PCSOs and 8 Special Constables. I promised to make the Police more visible in communities and I am delivering on that pledge”.
“As your Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner, my role is to be the voice of residents within Cumbria, in respect of the Police and Fire services – I am your voice. If any member of the public has a concern about crime in their area, or around the Constabulary or Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, please raise it with me at commissioner@cumbria-pcc.gov.uk or call 01768 217734.”
Inspector Steven Waddell from the Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing team said “Although there has been a decrease of many offences in Keswick, we are not complacent.
“The local Community Beat Officer PC Emma Fearon is dedicated to the area and will continue to take proactive action against any issues in the area and engage with the local community to hear their views and concerns.
“If you experience any issues in your area, please report them to us so we can address them with our partners.
