Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (Commissioner), David Allen, has been visiting the south of the county to hear the concerns of residents relating to policing and fire in their communities.

The Commissioner visited Ambleside, Sedbergh and Grange-over-sands over a two-week period. Local MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale, Lizzi Collinge, attended the surgery in Sedbergh to also listen to local issues. Residents who attended the surgeries raised their concerns around a variety of issues from speeding to drug use during the night-time economy and police visibility.

Speaking on the surgeries, Commissioner David Allen said: “These surgeries are vital for me to keep in contact with residents and ensure that I hear concerns from those who want to meet face-to-face rather sending an email to my office.

“During my first year as Commissioner, I’ve hosted 21 surgeries across the county to hear your views.

“In April, I’ll be hosting more surgeries across the county in Millom, Keswick, Penrith, Barrow and Workington. I would encourage anyone that is interested in coming along to keep an eye on the ‘Cumbria Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner’ Facebook page to find out where and when these will be held.

“If you have a concern, please come along and speak to me. I am your voice in policing and fire but I can only help if I know that there is an issue – and I want to help wherever I can.

“If you can’t attend one of my surgeries and have a concern around the Constabulary or Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, please still raise it with me at commissioner@cumbria-pcc.gov.uk or call 01768 217734. I want to hear from you!”

If you wish to report to police you can do so online at Report a crime | Cumbria Police. You can also phone on 101. Always phone 999 in an emergency or if a crime is in progress.
