Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (Commissioner), David Allen, is opening his Community Fund for local organisations, charities and community groups. Groups can apply for funding to support projects to help tackle and prevent crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB).
Organisations can apply for up to £2,500 for their projects. Since May 2024, the Community Fund has provided £468,547 to organisations across Cumbria to help support local initiatives to create safer communities.
Commissioner David Allen said: "Investing in our communities is vital to tackle and prevent anti-social behaviour and crime in our county.
“That’s why I’m so pleased to provide up to £2,500 to local organisations and groups for projects that will reduce crime through education and diversionary activities through the Community Fund.
“This funding comes from the seizure of criminal assets so not only are we putting money back into our county, we’re removing criminality from our streets.
“This may not seem like a huge amount of money. However, it can make a huge difference to smaller groups who want to make a positive difference in their area. I have seen that firsthand.
“I’ve visited multiple groups that received Community Fund over the last year such as Kendal Youth Darts Academy, Cumbria Taekwondo in Ulverston, Hensingham ARLFC and Creighton Rugby Club.
“I want to help Cumbrian organisations continue to make a difference in their communities which is why I am re-opening the Community Fund. If you have a project, please apply – all the information can be found on my website.”
