Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (Commissioner), David Allen, and Councillor Helen Irving are hosting a surgery in Ulverston to listen to residents’ concerns and views around Cumbria Constabulary, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) and the local community.

The surgery will be held at the Indoor Market, Ulverston Market Hall, New Market Street, Ulverston, LA12 7LJ on Thursday 29 October 2026 between 11am – 12:30pm.

Councillor Helen Irving is a member of the Police, Fire and Crime Panel. The Panel is made up of councillors from across Cumbria who review, support and scrutinise the work of the Commissioner and his office.

Speaking on the surgery, Commissioner David Allen said: “As Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, I am the residents’ voice – your voice - within policing and fire, therefore it’s vital that I am visible and accessible to the public.

“I’d encourage anyone in Ulverston or the surrounding area to come along and speak to me if they have an issue they’d like to raise. If I don’t know there is a problem, I can’t help fix it.

“Hosting this surgery with Councillor Irving ensures that local issues make it to the appropriate organisation to resolve. Partnership working is so important to ensure that our communities receive the best services possible.

“If you can’t make the surgery but would still like to raise a concern, contact me at commissioner@cumbria-pcc.gov.uk or at 01768 217734 - I’m here to help so please use me as your voice to the Chief Constable and Chief Fire Officer.”

Councillor Helen Irving said: “I am very grateful for the Police Fire and Crime Commissioner giving the people of Ulverston and District the opportunity to meet and discuss issues they may have within the area and to see what is happening within Cumbria.”
