Cumbria’s Police Fire and Crime Commissioner, David Allen has today launched his four-year Police, Fire and Crime Plan with tackling crime and anti-social behaviour as its key priorities.
The Police, Fire and Crime Plan sets out the policing priorities for the Commissioner and Chief Constable and ensures that Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service meets its statutory duties. The plan has been developed following a public consultation in which more than 1,500 residents across Cumbria took part, asking people to identify what was important to them.
Tackling crime, anti-social behaviour and supporting victims were given as the top priorities by residents who took part in the survey.
Speaking about the new Police Fire and Crime Plan, David Allen said: "This is my plan to tackle the key things that matter to people in Cumbria. I know that crime and anti-social behaviour ruins lives, and this plan sets out how we will support victims over the next four years, tackle the issues that matter to you, as well as ensuring that the Fire Service is there for you when you need them.
“It is only by working together with the Police and Fire Service that we will deliver the best policing and fire service in the country. I want you to judge me on what I have promised to deliver.”
Chief Constable Rob Carden, Cumbria Constabulary said: “This plan, set out by the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner provides clear direction on policing priorities.
“My officers are out, visible, tackling crime and anti-social behaviour every day, this is something we are keen to build on and develop over the coming year, particularly within our Neighbourhood Policing teams, as well as giving victims the support they need.
“This plan will support us in achieving what the public want, and I’d like to thank everyone who responded for their feedback on how they’d like the policing service in Cumbria to be.”
Fire Service Lead Paul Hancock said: "This is the first plan that Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service has been responsible for under the new governance arrangements. I'm delighted to be working with the Commissioner to ensure that the Fire and Rescue Service is there for people when they need it as well as continuing the other work that the Fire Service carries out such as our extensive programme of prevention and protection activities such as home fire safety checks”.
