Estates Building Officer

Salary Scale: Scale S02 – PO2 (£38,754 - £40,893)

Hours: Based on 37 hours per week

Based: Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, Penrith, Cumbria

The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Cumbria is looking for a dynamic individual to taking a proactive approach to the delivery of estate maintenance services throughout the Commissioners Estate, which includes Cumbria Constabulary and Cumbria Fire and Rescue estates.

Working as part of the estates team you will be responsible for delivering building and engineering maintenance across the Commissioner’s Estate, including:

  • planned work programmes and responsive maintenance services.
  • develop programmes of work, write specifications and produce technical drawings for work to be undertaken.
  • proactively liaise and manage our appointed contractors to ensure that the work delivered is free from defects to the required budget and specification.
  • carry out compliance checks on work undertaken to ensure the work delivered is free from defects
  • assist with the helpdesk facility and work closely with the Estates Maintenance Officer and Estates Administrator
  • updating the computerised Estate Management System in respect of works undertaken by the post holder, including maintaining and updating the drawing register

Your role will be to provide expert professional services and advice in a complex specialist area and working collaboratively with, and supporting and challenging internal and external stakeholders and partners, including a wide range of professionals and senior managers.  Successful candidates will be required to go through a vetting process and the criteria states that you must have lived or worked in the UK for a minimum of 3 years.
